COGRID-19

COGRID-19 + MICA : Baltimore’s contribution to the COGRID-19 project is a collaboration with the graduate program at MICA @marylandinstitutecollegeofart lead by @rebeccabradleyillustration (Program Director MA Illustration) and @smaxa (Program Director MA Graphic Design.) Their collaborative studio course brings together students from the Illustration, Graphic Design and Social Design departments to work together on projects for good. They joined forces with 9 Baltimore-based designers and illustrators to reflect upon what Baltimore has experienced over the past 2+ years and how it's maintained its charm and resilience. One of the tenets of MICA is to ‘thrive with Baltimore’ and their grid is a manifestation of that. Every penny raised by the sale of the Baltimore grids will go to The Black Mental Health Alliance.

When I created this Baltimore under the pandemic, I imagined people would have more time to spend with my loved ones and pets since they were quarantined at that time. The epidemic has made us know more about the people who around us and made people's emotions more closely connected; this makes me feel pleased. So I drew two people hugging tightly with their cats. Although We have to keep our distance from each other, I really hope we can all embrace whoever we want to embrace one day.
